OHS track teams cruise to Division 2-5A titles

The Oxford High track teams claimed the Division 2-5A championships with a dominant showing Thursday at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers used numerous first-place finishes to win the boys’ title with 128 total points while taking the girls’ championship with 134 points. Both teams also swept the team relay titles, further distancing themselves from the competition. (April 17, 2015, Page 1B, 2B)

Oxford boys, girls win EAGLE Invitational

The Oxford High track teams ran past the competition at The Oxford EAGLE Invitational on Saturday at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers took the boys title with 184 points while the Lady Chargers tallied 148 points to earn the victory. The closest either of Tupelo’s teams, which both finished runner-up, came was on the boys’ side, where the Golden Wave had 117 points. (April 5, 2015, Page 2B)

Oxford’s Hankins signs to run XC, track at Mississippi College

Emily Hankins was torn. The Oxford High senior’s performances on the trail and the track over the years netted her scholarship offers from Mississippi College and Delta State. Hankins went back and forth weighing the pros and cons of each school before ultimately signing with Mississippi College on Thursday in the high school library. (November 14, 2014, Page 6A)

Future looks bright for Oxford High cross-country teams

The Oxford Chargers successfully defended their Class 5A state cross-country championship Saturday in Clinton and the Lady Chargers came within a point of making it a clean sweep for OHS. OHS boys win third 5A state title in four years

CLINTON — The Oxford High boys opened the cross-country season ranked No. 1 in Mississippi based on returning runners and their best times from last year’s Class 5A state championship campaign. OHS boys win Silver Divison in Jesse Owens cross-country meet

DANVILLE, Ala. — The Oxford Charger cross-country team got personal-best performances from two of its top five finishers Saturday in winning the Silver 5A-7A Division of the prestigious Jesse Owens Classic. Local runners take titles in Stars & Stripes 5K

Runners in the Oxford area kicked off the holiday weekend with the Stars & Stripes 5K Run on Friday in Oxford with local runners taking home a majority of the titles.
Ten runners from Oxford or Water Valley placed first in the run in their respective age divisions while a pair of Oxford residents also finished as the overall winners. The race benefited the Oxford-Lafayette Humane Society. (July 7, 2014, Page 6)
