An lead in the first quarter wasn’t enough to propel the Water Valley Blue Devils to a win over Houlka in the annual Hotbed Classic in New Albany.
Houlka ended up defeating the Blue Devils 50-39 after outscoring them 24-13 in the fourth quarter. C.J. Jackson led WVHS with 18 points, while E.J. Bounds scored nine points. The 5-10 Blue Devils returned to action tonight at Nettleton. (January 24, 2012, Page 9)

Jackson, Johnathan Kirkwood and Chris Conard all scored 10 points in the victory for the 2-1 Blue Devils. E.J. Bounds finished with nine points. Water Valley’s girls lost 40-30 in the first game of the doubleheader. Haley Vance scored 16 points for the Lady Blue Devils, who are now 1-2 on the year. WATER VALLEY — Friday night was a satisfying night for the Water Valley football team on multiple levels.
