WVHS picks up first region win

WATER VALLEY — Still seething from its first loss of the season at Charleston the previous week, Water Valley decided to take its frustration out on Holly Springs.
Quarterback E.J. Bounds passed for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more while T.T. Person ran and caught one each to lead Water Valley to its first Region 2-3A victory of the season with a 56-0 lashing of the Hawks Friday night at Bobby Clark Field. (October 14, 2013, Page 4B)

WVHS edges Bruce in another nailbiter

BRUCE — The concession stands may want to stack up on Pepto-Bismol, or at least TUMS and Rolaids, to help calm the nervous stomachs when Water Valley and Bruce meet again.

Friday’s backyard rivalry with the Blue Devils and Trojans played out much the same as the previous two contests between the squads with the game undecided until the final minutes of the fourth quarter. Blue Devils run around, through CCHS Wildcats

WATER VALLEY — Calhoun City held a 6-0 lead over Water Valley late in the first half. It looked like the Blue Devils were going to have their first scare of the young season. Water Valley football coach Brad Embry is pleased with the progress his program has made and said that the Blue Devils are ready to take on larger classification schools in early games in an effort to get better as the season goes along. Blue Devil athletes capture Division 2-3A crown

Water Valley’s Blue Devils head into Saturday’s regional meet at Oxford as the Division 2-3A track champions. The Blue Devils won the meet held at Tishomingo County this past week by garnering 124 points, more than 40 points more than second-place finisher Mooreville.
