Blue Devils’ offense, errors doom Chargers

Errors ended up preventing the Oxford Chargers from earning a clean sweep in a baseball twinbill at W.V. Brewer Field on Saturday afternoon. OHS shows offensive depth in tournament

Oxford coach Chris Baughman had a big smile on his face following his team’s game with Senatobia at Edwin Moak Field on Thursday afternoon.

Sure he was glad that he and his staff were that much closer to concluding the four-day Spring Break Tournament, but the main reason was because of the success the Chargers had at the plate in an 11-1 win over the Warriors and the continued success of the team as they headed into the start of division play, which begins Tuesday at New Hope. (March 18, 2011, Page 6A)

Chargers fall to Olive Branch

Despite a seven-run fourth inning, the Oxford High baseball team was unable to overcome a fast start by Olive Branch in a 15-10 loss Tuesday night. The Chargers (1-2) got to within a run of the Conquistadors at 3-2 in the top of the third, but they fell behind by 10 runs after Olive Branch scored nine in the bottom half of the frame. Chargers go 1-1 to start season

Oxford’s baseball team rebounded from a 13-1 loss to Northwest Rankin Saturday to post a come-from-behind win over Ridgeland. The Chargers’ 5-4 win was aided by several players, including Hunt Halford, who earned the win on the mound in relief of starter Zac Barber. Henry Webb had two hits and an RBI, while William Elliott also had two hits, including a double in the victory. (more…) (February 28, 2011, Page 8)
