The Ole Miss men’s basketball squad utilized a 26-point lead late in the first half and cruised to a 101-69 victory over Mississippi Valley State University tonight at the C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum. (more…) (December 13, 2010)

Warren leads Rebels past USM

Chris Warren showed on Saturday night exactly what it means to display senior leadership.

After a slow start, Warren caught fire from the floor in the second half to help lift the Ole Miss Rebels to a 86-81 victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

Warren had just five points in the first half, but in the second half the senior guard got into a zone to finish with a game-high 20 points. (December 6, 2010, Page 3B)

Ole Miss can’t rebound to top Dayton Flyers

The Ole Miss Rebels didn’t want to use the injury to forward Reginald Buckner as an excuse for their 78-71 overtime loss to Dayton on Saturday at C.M. “Tad” Smith Coliseum.

Sure, there were other issues — like the Rebels 8-for-16 peformance from free-throw line one game after converting 22 of 23 opportunities against Murray State — but after Buckner went down with what head coach Andy Kennedy called a bruise to the inside of his right knee at the 19:13 mark of the second half, the Rebels were never the same on the boards. (November 22, 2010, Page 3B)

Kennedy likes team’s potential

A rested Andy Kennedy will lead his Ole Miss Rebels into the 2010-11 season a little over a month from now. Until then, he will lead the Rebels through team practices, which started today.

Kennedy, who helped lead the Rebels to the NIT Final Four last year, talked highly about his team heading into the start of drills and thought the work they have done so far is a good foundation for things to come. (October 15, 2010, Page 6A)

Rebels will count on Williams, newcomers

This offseason has been an exceptionally busy one for the Ole Miss men’s basketball team.

And not exactly in a good way.

Shortly after the Rebels’ loss to Dayton that eliminated them from the National Invitation Tournament, sophomore Terrico White and junior Eniel Polynice declared for the draft, and sophomore forward Murphy Holloway announced he was going to transfer to be closer to his family.

Add into the mass exodus equation that senior forward DeAundre Cranston graduated and forwards Kevin Cantinol and DeAngelo Riley won’t be returning next season, and it becomes apparent why the Rebels are hoping several newcomers are going to be able to step in and contribute immediately.

During Monday’s Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference, Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy mentioned several newcomers he’s hoping can contribute this upcoming season. (June 30, 2010, Page 8)

Kennedy adds two more to 2010 class

The 2010 Ole Miss basketball signing class increased by two on Tuesday with the addition of forward Isaiah Massey and guard Donald Williams. (April 28, 2010, Page 7)
