‘Dores clean up MAC awards in 4A

Three days after claiming a second Class 4A state title, the Lafayette Commodores were on top of the football world in Mississippi.

Lafayette’s 16-0 record garnered them a final ranking of No. 1 in the final prep football poll released by the Associated Press Wednesday. LHS received five votes for No. 1, while Olive Branch, who won the 6A title, also claimed five votes to finish in a tie with the Commodores as the top team in the state. On top again: ‘Dores take wind out of Tornadoes

JACKSON — About 30 seconds after Lafayette wrapped up its second straight MHSAA Class 4A state title at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium, head coach Anthony Hart embraced his youngest son Derek with a huge bear hug.
