WVHS heads to Ruleville for Round 2, OHS treks to Pearl
Both the Oxford Chargers and the Water Valley Blue Devils will hit the road tonight in search of wins that will extend their respective seasons.
For Oxford, the Chargers will travel to face the Pearl Pirates on the road for the second consecutive postseason, while the Blue Devils will head to Ruleville Central for a second-round matchup against the Region 3-3A’s No. 4 seed. (November 12, 2010, Page 6A)
Oxford looking to knock off Pearl
It doesn’t matter that the last time the Oxford Chargers and Pearl Pirates faced one another was a year ago. The Chargers’ 28-14 loss is still fresh in their minds and head coach Johnny Hill has made sure that his team learns from the past.
Sure, then-junior quarterback Guy Cameron Billups had suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand the week prior and as such his throwing ability was inhibited by a cast.
