Chargers hold off West Point to win 2-5A title

Oxford’s knack for playing its best basketball in the postseason and winning division tournament titles under coach Drew Tyler continued Friday night as the Chargers knocked off West Point 71-61. The win not only secured a 10th championship trophy for Tyler in his 14 years of coaching at OHS, it also ensured a home playoff game Tuesday against Clarksdale a year after the Chargers had to travel to Ridgeland. Oxford teams still working out the kinks

Going down the home stretch of their regular season schedules, both Oxford’s boys and girls hoops squads are happy to have earned victories over Saltillo at home on Tuesday.

Oxford sweeps Saltillo

Oxford earns sweep of Senatobia

Oxford fans at the OHS gym on Tuesday saw two very different games from the Chargers and Lady Chargers against Senatobia.

While both squads won, it was the boys that claimed a run-away 74-57 victory, while the girls had to hold on and knock down free throws at the end to claim a 48-41 win. (November 17, 2010, Page 6)
