Shawn headed to Hinds C.C.
A strong senior season behind the plate has earned Oxford resident (North Delta) Derrick Shawn an opportunity to showcase his skills at the next level. Shawn, who started his prep career at OHS, is headed to Hinds Community College to play for coach Sam Temple. (July 13, 2011, Page 9)
Judon having a bounce-back summer
NEW ALBANY — Ole Miss’ Jimel Judon looks like a completely different batter on the diamond of the New Albany Sportsplex this summer.
Judon’s stance is the same, but his production certainly is not.
After recording just two hits in 36 at-bats last summer for the Tallahatchie Rascals of the Cotton States Baseball League, the former Myrtle standout is hitting .400 — good enough for third amongst league regulars — through nine games this season. (more…) (June 27, 2011, Page 6)
