8th-grade Chargers return to form
A week of intense practices following the only loss of the season paid off in a big way for the Oxford eighth-grade football team on Tuesday. A week after suffering a disappointing 14-12 loss to Lafayette, the Chargers blanked Grenada 36-0. The victory improved the Chargers to 6-1 overall and kept them in the race to possibly win the Tri-Lakes Conference title. (October 17, 2012, Page 6)
LMS, OMS split final meeting
The second meeting between Oxford and Lafayette on the gridiron meant a lot more than the earlier showdown. Tuesday’s doubleheader at William L. Buford Stadium not only counted in the team’s overall record, but also towards the Tri-Lakes Confernce standings.
Oxford’s seventh-grade Chargers remained perfect on the year with a 22-6 win over Lafayette, while the Commodores gave the Chargers their first loss of the season in the eighth-grade game with a 14-12 triumph. (October 10, 2012, Page 7)
