Mack paces ‘Dores in win over Pats
Thursday may have been Senior Night, but it was sophomore Brandon Mack that stole the show for the Lafayette Commodores.
Starting in place of junior quarterback Jeremy Liggins, who was dressed but held out of the game to rest a sore right ankle, Mack did a little bit of everything to lead the Commodores to a 37-7 victory over the Lewisburg Patriots at William L. Buford Stadium.
Against the Patriots, Mack completed 2 of 6 passes for 64 yards and a touchdown, rushed for 64 yards and two scores, and also intercepted a pass from Lewisburg quarterback Colby Sappington inside Lafayette’s 10-yard line. (October 29, 2010, Page 6A)

LHS looks to remain perfect against Pats
All that stands between the Lafayette Commodores and an undefeated regular season is Thursday’s matchup with the Lewisburg Patriots.
A perfect regular season would be nice, but with Region 2-4A already locked up, the Commodores (10-0 overall, 5-0 Region 2-4A) are looking at Thursday’s game with the bigger picture in mind. Specifically, stay focused, healthy and get ready for a deep playoff run. (October 27, 2010, Page 10)
Devils’ Fondon a student of the game
Friday’s game against Winona for Water Valley was a must-win in the eyes of the Blue Devils. It wasn’t a win-or-you’re-out of the playoffs type must-win, but a must-win in the sense of playoff seeding.
With Water Valley’s 31-21 victory, the Blue Devils locked up a second-place spot in Region 2-3A that will have them hosting either Corinth or Kossuth in the first round of the playoffs. (October 26, 2010, Page 9)
‘Dores capture Region 2-4A title Friday
The Lafayette Commodores rallied past the Rosa Fort Lions Friday night after a rather sluggish start to claim a 42-7 victory. The Commodores clinched first place in Region 2-4A with the important win over the Lions. (October 25, 2010, Page 4B)

Gooch shows knack for finding the end zone
Lafayette’s Anfernee Gooch has been overshadowed for much of the 2010 season by workhorses Jeremy Liggins and Demarkus Dennis.
That may have played a factor in Gooch’s breakout performance on Friday that earned him his second EAGLE Player of the Week honor.
Against the Millington Central Trojans, Gooch caught four passes and converted each into touchdown scores of 9, 55, 59 and 45 yards. (October 19, 2010, Page 8)
Billups passes, catches way to POW honor
Oxford pulled out all the stops in its upset bid at West Point last Friday with Guy Cameron Billups as the trigger man.
Not only did Billups complete 17 of 36 passes for two scores and 291 yards, but he also caught a 9-yard touchdown pass on a trick play that put the Chargers ahead 7-0.
On the Chargers’ final scoring drive of the game that allowed the team a chance to tie the Green Wave, Billups also scrambled for a first down on a 12-yard run.
It’s because of his all-around effort in Oxford’s narrow 22-20 loss that Billups earned this week’s EAGLE Player of the Week honor. (October 12, 2010, Page 8)
‘Dores sharp again in rout of Warriors
The No. 1 ranked Lafayette Commodores dominated Senatobia in every aspect of the game Friday night, beating the Warriors 54-7 at William L Buford Stadium. The Commodores improved to 8-0 overall on the year and 4-0 in Region 2-4A play despite starting the game more on the sluggish side. (October 11, 2010, Page 1B)
