Rangers roll East Central
DECATUR — The return of Adrian Golden to the lineup only made the offense for the No. 6 Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers that much more potent on Thursday night. The Rangers totaled 426 yards in a 42-19 win over East Central, while Golden, who has been limited during the summer drills with a sprained ankle, added 94 yards and a touchdown on just 11 carries. No. 9 Rangers host No. 8 PRCC tonight
The quest to win a second MACJC North Division title in a row begins tonight for the No. 9 Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers. NWCC, which went 9-1 last season in coach Ricky Woods’ third season in Senatobia, hosts No. 8 Pearl River at Bobby Franklin Field. Kickoff for the game is set for 6:30 p.m. and the contest can be heard locally on 93.7 FM.

Oxford teams win powerlifting titles
Oxford’s two powerlifting teams continued to show how strong they both are this weekend by winning the regional powerlifting meets at the OMS gym. It was the first regional titles for the school in either the girls or boys divisions. (February 21, 2011, Page 6)

Johnson a strong addition to OHS powerlifting
Good things are expected from the Oxford Chargers powerlifting team this season as they head into the fourth year under coach Jason Russell.
Russell said this year’s team is the most experienced one he has had and the most depth he’s had to work with. Oxford finished sixth in the state meet last year with several of those lifters returning. (January 21, 2011, Page 7A)

Oxford’s Billups wins top award in 5A
Oxford’s success on the football field this season was translated on the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 5A All-State team that was recently released.
Senior quarterback Guy Cameron Billups was named Player of the Year after throwing for 2,915 yards and 33 touchdowns for the 9-4 Chargers. Billups ranked second in the entire state in both passing yards and touchdowns thrown.
Joining Billups on the first team offense for the MAC team were senior wide receiver DeShaun McNeal and senior tight end Larry Pettis. Senior offensive lineman Terry Johnson was also named to the second team on offense. Johnson will be playing in Saturday’s Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Classic in Mobile, Ala. Late surge lifts Oxford past Tigers
The Oxford Chargers scored a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns and held on to defeat Hernando 31-19 in their regional showdown at Bobby Holcomb Field.
