Water Valley knocks off J.Z. George
The Blue Devils earned a narrow win over J.Z. George on the hardwood Tuesday night. Water Valley’s boys improved to 2-2 on the year with a 47-43 victory. Dee McNeal scored 15 points, while E.J. Bounds had 10 in the win. Water Valley’s junior varsity boys team lost 37-35 despite 12 points from L.J. Hawkins. Both varsity teams return to action Tuesday at Hickory Flat. The Water Valley Blue Devils took care of business in their final non-region game of the season Friday, cruising to a 61-6 victory over J.Z. George at Bobby Clark Field.

Water Valley, Lafayette split games
Lafayette and Water Valley split four games to open the middle school basketball season for both programs Tuesday in the WVHS gym. The seventh-grade Commodores defeated Water Valley 26-7, while the eighth-grade Blue Devils rallied to post a 15-13 win in the nightcap.
Lafayette’s seventh-grade girls lost 16-7 to the Lady Blue Devils, while Water Valley’s eighth-grade were defeated 12-10. (November 3, 2010, Page 6)
7th-, 8th-grade Devils skin Cougars
The Blue Devils’ football program had a successful evening on the gridiron Tuesday to conclude the 2010 season, as the seventh-grade team defeated South Pontotoc 32-0 and the eighth-grade Blue Devils also defeated the Cougars 28-6.
