Chrestman returns to WVSD

OHS named star school

Oxford High School was named a star school in the latest accountability rankings from the Mississippi Department of Education. Overall the local school districts fared about average on the state’s accountability rating system. Lafayette and Water Valley School Districts were listed as academic watch. (September 10, 2010, Page 1A)

Test results show progress

Local schools, Lafayette County, Oxford and Water Valley school districts are well above the state percentage of passing scores in most testing areas. But all three districts along with all other districts in the state continue to struggle with reading scores. Statewide results were released today. Oxford Superintendent said that “There is always room for improvement.” (August 20, 2010, Page 1A)

WV School District welcomes new superintendent

On July 1  Deborah Moran “hit the ground running” when she took over the  job of superintendent for the Water Valley School District. Water Valley schools tap new leader

WATER VALLEY — After months of searching and interviewing, the Water Valley School District finally found a successor for Superintendent Sammy Higdon. On Monday, Deborah Moran officially accepted the school district’s offer to lead the school district into the future.
