Artist/musician Jon Langford visits TMR, Soutshide Gallery and Two Stick Sushi Bar

OXFORD TOWN – Artist, musician and “Champion of misfits” Jon Langford is set for performances and art exhibitions all over Oxford this weekend, beginning with Thacker Mountain Radio tonight (Thursday, March 1) at Off Square Books. Pages 7 and 12 in Oxford Town No. 968 has tons of  information about the native Welshman who now calls Chicago home. And, if you can’t make the TMR broadcast this evening, plan to hit Two Stick on Friday, March 2, for an acoustic performance by Langford who is in town supporting an exhibit of his works at Southside Gallery. (March 1, 2012, Page 7, 12)

Oxford Music Festival spotlight continues

OXFORD TOWN – OT’s breakdown of Oxford Music Festival 2012 rolls on this week (Issue No. 962) as we spotlight the bands and acts set for Friday, Feb. 10, at the Malco Studio Cinema VIP Tent, Lyric Theater’s Electro Stage and Proud Larry’s on the Oxford Square. This week, our spotlight illuminates one of the most diverse music- and movie-oriented nights that Oxford has seen in quite some time. Featured bands include Silas Reed ’N Da Books, Kelley and The G-Men, Break-beat, The Minor Adjustments (pictured here), The Congress, Proud Larry’s headliner Shooting Out The Lights and others. VOX PRESS returns to the Powerhouse

OXFORD TOWN – VOX PRESS presents “Noises from the Nerve Center Collective,” an evening of experimental music and literature, on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center on University Avenue in Oxford. The event is part of a documetary project and is free and open to the public. The Blind Pig to host Thacker Mountain Radio benefit

Songwriters unite for end of fall series

Oxford Songwriters Association will host a special Troubadour Lounge at 9 tonight at Proud Larry’s to close out the fall season. Literary groups join forces for reading

The literary group, Oxford Blue Books, started out several years ago as a few local writers and musicians who enjoyed getting together to talk. Now releasing their 9th volume of their publication the Old Blue Book, the group has asked other literary magazines to join them for a reading on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Powerhouse Arts Center. (April 26, 2010, Page 3A)
