Chargers win another 2-5A title

A rocky start to the Division 2-5A slate is all forgotten now that the Oxford Chargers have repeated as division champions. Defense not enough to give Chargers win

Offense was a problem for the OHS boys as they dropped their first two games in the Jaguar Classic in Hoover, Ala. The Chargers lost 61-37 to Vestavia Hills on Wednesday and 52-48 to Bessemer City on Thursday. (January 4, 2013, Page 8A)

Oxford tops Pontotoc in hoops doubleheader

Lafayette’s Hamann makes history

CLINTON — The Lafayette girls, sparked by individual gold medalist Peyton Hamann and two others in the top six performers, claimed third place in the MHSAA Class 4A state cross-country meet held Saturday at Mississippi College’s Choctaw Trails.

Oxford sweeps Tupelo in hoops action

Oxford earned a sweep of Tupelo Friday night at home.

Oxford earns sweep over Senatobia

Oxford’s girls and boys basketball seasons may be in their infancy stages, but both head coaches are focused on the future and certain aspects that will both make their respective teams better.

OHS girls coach Shayne Linzy wasn’t pleased with the way his team started the game, but he liked they way they fought and competed in a 79-54 win over Senatobia in the OHS gym Tuesday night. (November 16, 2011, Page 6)

Chargers sweep South Pontotoc

The Oxford seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams had no problem pulling off a sweep of South Pontotoc Thursday night in the teams first action since the Christmas break. The eighth-graders defeated South Pontotoc 48-25 thanks to 13 points from Josh Gibbs, eight points from K.T. McCollins and seven points each from David Dennis and Michael McGhee. McGhee and McCollins each had five blocks in the win for the Chargers, who are now 12-2 overall.
