Lafayette players dominate 2011 Region 2-4A roster

Lafayette’s football players dominated the Region 2-4A team, which was voted on and released Thursday by the region’s coaches. Quarterback Jeremy Liggins was named Player of the Year. Liggins’ leadership, dedication paced LHS in 2011

There were a lot reasons why the Lafayette Commodores finished the season ranked No. 1 overall in the state and with a second straight MHSAA Class 4A state title trophy to put on display. A bevy of talented players and a very organized coaching staff are at the top of the list of reasons why the Commodores reeled off another 16-0 season, but leadership provided by key players was also a major reason for the immense success. ‘Dores clean up MAC awards in 4A

Three days after claiming a second Class 4A state title, the Lafayette Commodores were on top of the football world in Mississippi.

Lafayette’s 16-0 record garnered them a final ranking of No. 1 in the final prep football poll released by the Associated Press Wednesday. LHS received five votes for No. 1, while Olive Branch, who won the 6A title, also claimed five votes to finish in a tie with the Commodores as the top team in the state. Linemen pave way to ‘Dores success

There are a lot of reasons why the Lafayette Commodores have won 29 straight games and are ranked No. 1 in the state.

‘Dores capture region with blowout

The answer to the question of exactly who the best team in Region 2-4A this year was answered in impressive fashion by the No. 1 ranked Lafayette Commodores Thursday night at William L. Buford Stadium. LHS showed its immense talent and depth on offense, defense and special teams with a one-sided 49-7 whitewashing of North Pontotoc.
