Lafayette downs improved Lady Devils

WATER VALLEY — The Water Valley volleyball team has showed marked improvement over the course of the last two weeks.

After being over-powered on Aug. 25 at Lafayette, the Lady Blue Devils played a competitive match in the return trip on Thursday, falling to the Lady Commodores 3-1 (26-24, 25-18, 24-26, 25-21).

PREP SOFTBALL — The Water Valley Lady Blue Devils overcame bitterly cold temperatures to defeat the Oxford Lady Chargers 16-15 in the fastpitch softball opener for both teams Tuesday night at Stone Park. Courtney True drove in the game-winning RBI for the Lady Blue Devils in the top of the eighth inning, while pitcher Kelsey Kimzey secured the win in the circle after fielding a ground ball she coaxed OHS into hitting in the bottom of the frame. (March 2, 2010, Page 9)
