James likes what he sees in his ‘Dores
Lafayette will look to build on the success it garnered in the season opener against Bruce Saturday evening in the annual Coach “C” Shootout. The one-day event will be held in the LHS gym and the Commodores will play host to the Grenada Chargers at approximately 7:30.
Four ‘Dores named to 4A MAC team
Lafayette senior cornerback Brandon Mack continued to receive postseason honors Wednesday when he was named to the Mississippi Association of Coaches Class 4A team. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Mack was named to the first team on defense as a cornerback along with Houston’s Chris Thornton. (December 5, 2012, Page 6)
LHS starts Robertson Era off right
Leave it to the Lafayette Commodores to win a dramatic defensive struggle in Eric Robertson’s head coaching debut. Sparked by an early interception returned for a touchdown by linebacker Chequille Williams, the Commodores scratched and clawed their way to an 8-3 win at William L. Buford Stadium on Friday. Buford, Liggins lead LHS at region meet
Led by the speed of Mariah Buford, the Lafayette Lady Commodores finished second in Saturday’s Region 1-4A track meet at Pontotoc. The Lady Warriors won the title by totaling 202 points. Lady ‘Dores claim Divison 2-4A title
Ten first-place finishes helped lead the Lafayette girls track team to a Division 2-4A title Monday at Lewisburg. The meet started on Friday but had to be finished Monday due to rain. Lewisburg, Senatobia, New Albany and Tunica-Rosa Fort competed in the meet. It was the second division title in three seasons for the Lady Commodores, who seemed poised to follow up last year’s second-place finish at the state meet. (April 24, 2012, Page 10)
Lafayette finishes fourth at state meet

LHS boys send five to state meet

LHS boys muscle past divisional foes
Lafayette continued to flex its muscle in boys powerlifting with a first-place finish in the Region 2-4A meet held this past weekend.

LHS girls powerlifters claim second place
The success Lafayette’s powerlifting team had in its first meet last week paid dividends on Monday with a second-place finish in the Lady Wildcat Invitational held at Calhoun City.
The Lady Commodores totaled 55 points, second to Charleston’s 63. Oxford finished third with 30 points, while Pontotoc (24) and Calhoun City (10) rounded out the teams at the meet.
Cate Clay lifted in the 97-pound weight class for the Lady Commodores and finished first with a 425-pound total. Meg Norphlet competed in the 105 class and was first with a total of 500. San Hairston competed in the 123 class as did Jada McIntosh. Hairston was second with a 595, while McIntosh totaled 500. (more…) (February 1, 2012, Page 7)
OMS captures crosstown championship
