‘Dores have chance to shine at 4A state meet

If the Lafayette Commodores lift like coach Cody Stubblefield knows his atheltes can, then Saturday should be a good one at the MHSAA Class 4A state meet. Oxford’s track teams opened the 2013 season with a bang as both squads won Saturday’s Oxford EAGLE Invitational meet held at Bobby Holcomb Field. LHS Commodores want to honor Mills

Lafayette’s Commodores are set to begin the 2013 powerlifting season at the Pontotoc Invitational with a veteran team but also with some changes from a year ago. One of the biggest changes revolves around the unfortunate death of John Mills, who finished third in the 114-pound weight division at last year’s state meet. (January 18, 2013, Page 8A)

‘Dores struggle against Alabama counterparts

An 0-3 week, after starting the year with two wins, wasn’t the goal of the Lafayette Commodores. But when the team’s best player in Brandon Mack isn’t available to help out against the biggest rival and two teams from Alabama, earning wins for the Commodores was a tough assignment.

Lafayette dropped both of its games in the inaugural Mississippi-Alabama Challenge played Friday and Saturday in the Oxford High gym. The ‘Dores (2-3 overall) lost 62-59 to LaFayette (Ala.) on Friday before falling 68-52 to the Yellowjackets of Oxford (Ala.) on Saturday. (December 17, 2012, Page 3B)

Adamson’s consistent leadership paves season for Oxford

Oxford’s reversal of fortune on the gridiron this season was a result of many different players. For a team that was 5-6 and not in the playoffs in 2011, an 11-2 overall record and a trip to the semifinals of the MHSAA Class 5A playoffs in 2012 took a lot of hard work on the part of several top players.
