Oxford powerlifters aiming for three-peat at state meet

Oxford’s boys powerlifting team has some pieces missing from its recent state championship teams, but the Chargers are counting on their depth and experience to deliver yet another MHSAA Class 5A title. The Chargers will try to win their third straight state crown Saturday in Jackson and have the numbers to make them the favorite. Ten lifters qualified for the state meet at North Half last month, the most of any 5A team and the same number Oxford carried to Jackson last season. (April 17, 2015, Page 1B)

OHS track earns top-10 finishes in Houston Classic

GERMANTOWN, Tenn. — The Oxford High School boys finished third and the OHS girls came sixth in the Houston Track Classic held Friday and Saturday at Houston High School. (April 13, 2015, Page 7)

Oxford boys, girls win EAGLE Invitational

The Oxford High track teams ran past the competition at The Oxford EAGLE Invitational on Saturday at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers took the boys title with 184 points while the Lady Chargers tallied 148 points to earn the victory. The closest either of Tupelo’s teams, which both finished runner-up, came was on the boys’ side, where the Golden Wave had 117 points. (April 5, 2015, Page 2B)

WV’s Gordon runs away with POW honor

Water Valley senior Jeoffrey Gordon has been banged up for most of the season. Friday, the Blue Devil running back showed what he can do when he gets a chance to crack the starting lineup at close to full health.

D shines again for undefeated OHS

HERNANDO — It’s hard not to believe that members of the Hernando Tigers offense weren’t a little sore Saturday morning after tangling with Oxford’s defensive unit.
