Youngsters show some glimpses in loss to ‘Dogs
Ole Miss’ coaching staff has said all season that the freshman class is a special one.
On Saturday, Ole Miss’ fans got a healthy dose of the freshmen class as the Rebels started six true freshmen (receiver Donte Moncrief, offensive lineman Aaron Morris, linebacker Serderius Bryant, cornerback Senquez Golson, safety Cody Prewitt and defensive end C.J. Johnson). (more…) (November 14, 2011, Page 1B)
Rebs’ Rose remains perfect
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Alabama coach Nick Saban has to be wishing late season trades were available in the college game like they are in the NFL.
If they were, it’s hard not to think he wouldn’t come after Ole Miss junior Bryson Rose, who is the hottest kicker in the college game.
Ole Miss may not be producing a lot positive results on the field this season, but the native of Raleigh, N.C., has been completely the opposite. He continued his exceptional season by making two more field goals Saturday against Kentucky at Commonwealth Stadium. (more…) (November 7, 2011, Page 1B)

Nutt wants to see his Rebels finish games next
Finish was the word Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt used several times during his weekly press conference Monday to describe the next step in the development of his young team. The Rebels played inspired football for a half against No. 10 Arkansas, but they were unable to hold on to a 17-0 lead and ultimately saw another opportunity for a win slip away. Rebel offense having to cope without RBs
For at least a couple of days, Ole Miss’ quarterback battle has taken a back seat thanks to the Rebels getting a little roughed up by Brigham Young.
Against the Cougars, Ole Miss’ depth at running back took a significant hit when All-Southeastern Conference senior Brandon Bolden and fellow veteran Enrique Davis went down with leg injuries.
During his weekly press conference Monday, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt addressed both injuries. (September 6, 2011, Page 6)
Several newcomers will see action in Saturday’s opener
It’s a good thing the Ole Miss Rebels have name plates back on their jerseys because fans will have a lot of new names to learn when their team kicks its season off on Saturday against the BYU Cougars.
When Ole Miss’ first official two-deep depth chart was released on Monday, 24 players listed were either freshmen (both true and redshirt) or transfers. (August 30, 2011, Page 8)
Nutt, Lee see improvement from QBs
“Better” was a word used by both Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt and offensive coordinator David Lee to describe how Wednesday’s practice session went for quarterbacks Barry Brunetti and Zack Stoudt.
Brunetti, who will be the starter for the BYU game, cut down on the mistakes he made on Tuesday in the Rebels’ most recent practice, Lee said. (August 25, 2011, Page 6)
Rebels produce mixed results Wednesday
The Ole Miss Rebels were in pads for the first time during Wednesday’s practice session.
Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt saw some positives gained in the workout, but he did admit that the team looked tired at the end of the workout which meant drills weren’t as crisp as he wanted.
“We got to get a little tougher. The pads added a little extra weight on them today. They got a little tired there towards the end,” Nutt said. “We’ve had a good few days though. We’ve put a lot of learning, a lot of installs in, a lot of thinking, so you find out a lot about them, especially our younger people. I’ve been really proud of them. (August 11, 2011, Page 1B)
