After rain washed out Tuesday’s scheduled meeting between the Lafayette and Water Valley middle school football teams, they were able to play Thursday at William L. Buford Stadium. WATER VALLEY — Calhoun City held a 6-0 lead over Water Valley late in the first half. It looked like the Blue Devils were going to have their first scare of the young season. WATER VALLEY — The Blue Devils and head coach Brad Embry had two main objectives heading into Friday’s Region 2-3A opener against Mooreville: Get the win and stay healthy.
