Lady Chargers have new energy after wins

Oxford softball coach Lauren Hill allowed her Lady Chargers a chance to rest and refocus on the next phase of the MHSAA’s Class 5A playoffs Monday. If it was up to the Lady Chargers, they would have played their first game with McComb instead of waiting until Thursday.

There is a new level of enthusiasm at OHS in regards to softball thanks to a series sweep of Starkville over the weekend. The Lady Chargers earned a 6-5 win on the road last Friday before returning home to beat SHS 7-4.

Hill said the two wins really energized a group that is still learning how to compete at this new level. (April 24, 2012, Page 9)

Tricky Tigers: Hernando defeats Oxford

Oxford’s week-long break from the softball field didn’t result in a win when the Lady Chargers hosted Hernando Tuesday evening. The Lady Tigers beat OHS 8-1 in a Division 1-5A contest that OHS coach Lauren Hill felt should have been closer but wasn’t because her team wasn’t as focused as she would have liked.
