OMS secures playoff seeding, sweeps LMS
Monday’s middle school version of the Crosstown Classic had more on the line than just rivalry pride.
When Lafayette and Oxford met on the baseball diamond at Edwin Moak Field, both the Chargers and Commodores had a more immediate reward in mind — playoff seeding.

Oxford Middle School pushed its unbeaten streak to five games Monday.

Oxford sweeps Grenada in middle school hoops
Oxford’s eighth-grade Chargers gained a measure of revenge Thursday night with a 42-37 win over Grenada in the OHS gym. The seventh-graders won 34-26 after being down seven points during the contest. Oxford earns sweep of Myrtle
Oxford’s middle school basketball season got off to a good start for the girls and boys swept Myrtle Tuesday night. The seventh-grade Chargers defeated Myrtle 28-11, while the eighth-graders won 37-17. Oxford’s seventh-grade Chargers won 26-7, while the eighth-grade Chargers won 25-11. Chargers sweep South Pontotoc
The Oxford seventh- and eighth-grade boys basketball teams had no problem pulling off a sweep of South Pontotoc Thursday night in the teams first action since the Christmas break. The eighth-graders defeated South Pontotoc 48-25 thanks to 13 points from Josh Gibbs, eight points from K.T. McCollins and seven points each from David Dennis and Michael McGhee. McGhee and McCollins each had five blocks in the win for the Chargers, who are now 12-2 overall.
