More rain expected today

Tropical Storm Lee dumped about 6 inches of rain in Oxford and Lafayette County Sunday. The LOU area could see an additional 4 inches of rain today as the storm moves northeast. No major flooding has been reported thus far. (September 5, 2011, Page 1A)

Little Tallahatchie River threatens to spill over due to heavy rains

The rain stopped just in time to prevent the Little Tallahatchie River at Etta from overflowing. At 9 p.m. Wednesday, the river crested at 25.3 feet. Flood level is 25 feet. (March 10, 2011, Page 8)

Winter moves into Oxford

LOCAL NEWS — Winter will be in full force this week as an arctic blast makes its way into the Mid-South. The normal high for this time of year is 50 and low is 31. Temperatures are forecast to remain below freezing today through at least Sunday, except on Wednesday when the high could reach a whopping 35 degrees. (January 4, 2010, Page 1)
