RB Dennis named top player in Week 3
This week’s Player of the Week from the high school ranks is used to seeing his name in print. Lafayette senior running back Demarkous Dennis is a reliable, every-down player for the No. 1 ranked Commodores and a reason why they have scored 40 or more points in all three of their games so far this year.
In a year where D.K. Buford has emerged to give the Commodores yet another weapon on offense, Dennis has been the most consistent member of the unit. In Week 1 he rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown, while in Week 2 he totaled 165 yards and three touchdowns. (more…) (September 6, 2011, Page 6)
Wildcats crash Water Valley’s Homecoming
WATER VALLEY — After throttling their opponents to the tune of 105-0 in their first two games of the season, the Water Valley Blue Devils were humbled Friday, losing to Calhoun City 16-14 at Bobby Clark field.

Rivalry week will come to a climax tonight when the Oxford Chargers head across town to face the top-ranked Lafayette Commodores at William L. Buford Stadium.

Blue Devils show another dimension
Water Valley didn’t look like a football team that was out of its element this weekend. It was just the contrary.
The Blue Devils, known as a smash-mouth team that sprinkles in the passing game on offense, regrouped after losing its opening game to advance all the way to the Group B Championship Game of the O-Zone Classic 7-on-7 tournament hosted at FNC Park. (July 11, 2011, Page 7)

Those in attendance at last weekend’s Scout.com football combine at Tupelo High saw first hand what the Water Valley coaching staff has been saying for years: Chris Conard is a legit talent.

Blue Devils power their way into third round of 3A playoffs
Whoever faces the Water Valley Blue Devils in the next round of the MHSAA Class 3A baseball playoffs take warning: You’re going to need a bigger boat.
Paced by a potent offensive attack, the Blue Devils defeated the Kossuth Aggies 10-8 Friday night at Kossuth and went on to sweep the series Saturday with a 10-3 win at Blue Devil Field to advance to the third round. After deliberations with the MHSAA over the weekend failed to produce an opponent, word came mid-morning that Leflore County would be the No. 3 seed to play the Blue Devils.
