Those in attendance at last weekend’s Scout.com football combine at Tupelo High saw first hand what the Water Valley coaching staff has been saying for years: Chris Conard is a legit talent.

Blue Devils power their way into third round of 3A playoffs

Whoever faces the Water Valley Blue Devils in the next round of the MHSAA Class 3A baseball playoffs take warning: You’re going to need a bigger boat.

Paced by a potent offensive attack, the Blue Devils defeated the Kossuth Aggies 10-8 Friday night at Kossuth and went on to sweep the series Saturday with a 10-3 win at Blue Devil Field to advance to the third round. Several Blue Devils make MAC 3A Team

Several Water Valley Blue Devils were honored on Wednesday for their standout play on the football field.

Included on the 2010 Mississippi Association of Coaches’ Class 3A All-State Team were first teamers, linebacker J.D. Fondon, safety/running back Eric Buckley and long snapper Fred McGee. Cornerback/receiver Chris Conard was named to the second team, while linebacker C.J. Jackson, lineman Tommy Lipscomb and punter John Michael Grimmett were named as honorable mentions. (December 9, 2010, Page 6)
