Oxford teams win Region 1-5A titles
Region 1-5A track titles were awarded to both the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers Monday night at Bobby Holcomb Field. Oxford dominates 2-5A meet
“Dominant.” That’s what the Oxford Chargers and Lady Chargers were in the Division 2-5A track meet held Friday at Bobby Holcomb Field. Both teams finished first in the annual meet, with the Chargers scoring 122 points, almost double second-place finisher West Point with 64. Bush pleased with where the Chargers are heading into 2-5A meet
The high school track season is about to really get interesting, starting with today’s Division 2-5A meet. The annual meet will be held at Oxford High’s Bobby Holcomb Field and Chris Bush, the head coach of the Chargers, likes how his team looks heading into the first of three major meets leading up to qualifying for the state meet.
OHS dominates EAGLE Invitational
Oxford’s track teams opened the 2013 season with a bang as both squads won Saturday’s Oxford EAGLE Invitational meet held at Bobby Holcomb Field. The Chargers more than doubled up second-place finisher West Bolivar (220-98) to win first place, while the Lady Chargers finished with 157 points, 25 more than second-place finisher Independence. Chargers hope to be contenders again
Oxford boys track coach Chris Bush has a positive feeling heading into the start of the season leading the Chargers for the first time. Thanks to a deep roster and some experienced talent coming back, the Chargers could be a contender for a Class 5A state title if everything continues to come together.
Former Chargers to lead boys track, cross-country teams
Two of Oxford High’s most decorated track athletes will be leading two of the most successful programs at OHS in the coming year. Chris Patton and Chris Bush were both approved by the school board Monday to lead the cross country and boys track programs respectively. Patton, who has been an assistant to former OHS coach Scott Kendricks since 2008, will assist Bush on the track and continue to work with sprinters and jumpers as he has in the past. Bush will assist Patton with the cross country teams.
Oxford Athletics Director Johnny Hill recommended the duo after Kendricks decided first, to become just the cross country coach, and then leave high school coaching altogether when he decided to coach at Ole Miss earlier this month. (July 26, 2012, Page 6)
Oxford boys win Region 1-5A title; Lady Chargers take second
Led by the efforts of Lucian Duchaine, the Oxford boys cross country team claimed first place at the Region 1-5A championships, while the Lady Chargers took home silver thanks to a standout performance from Callie Mayo.

Bush returning to help coach OHS Chargers
A familiar face will be back on the Oxford High track this upcoming spring to help keep the Chargers in contention for state championships.
Chris Bush, who helped lead the OHS boys track team to state title in 2007, returns as an assistant coach to Scott Kendricks after four years at Ole Miss. Bush will help with the relays and sprinters during his time at OHS, Kendricks said, and then build on his coaching resume from there. (June 30, 2011, Page 6)
Good field of athletes on tap at Ole Miss invitational
Some of the best college and pro track athletes will be on display as they compete in the annual Ole Miss Invitational on Saturday.
