Lafayette takes doubleheader from OHS
There were several new faces and numbers to learn for those who attended Thursday night’s summer league baseball game between Lafayette and Oxford at Edwin Moak Field. Less than a month after a veteran OHS team wrapped up the season against Ridgeland, coach Chris Baughman is having to re-tool his lineup with several younger members of the program. Barber’s focus, talent leads to Player of Year award
A focused approach that started this past summer made Oxford High baseball player Zac Barber the most important player on the field for the Chargers this season.
For a team that had several good high school players on the roster but nobody that was headed to play at the Division I level next season, Barber was able to carry the Chargers to an unexpected 19-12 overall record and a spot in the Class 5A North Half title series. (more…) (June 2, 2011, Page 1B)
Titans beat OHS to win 5A North Half
RIDGLEAND — Oxford’s fantastic run through the MHSAA’s Class 5A playoffs came to an abrupt end with an 8-3 loss to Ridgeland in the North Half title game on Monday night. Chargers look to wipe the slate clean
RIDGELAND — Tonight’s second game of the MHSAA Class 5 North Half title series comes down to which team makes the fewest mistakes. If the Chargers are going to force a decisive Game 3 on Saturday, they will have to play a little cleaner than they did in the opener and get the timely hit that has helped the first two playoff series.
For the Ridgeland Titans, who travel to Edwin Moak Field for the second game, it will be about finishing what they started on Thursday in a 6-3 win over the Chargers. (May 13, 2011, Page 7A)

Confident Chargers looking for series win
Confidence is something the Oxford Chargers gained throughout the season as they won their way to a division title. The Chargers gained another measure of confidence last weekend in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs with a sweep of Hernando.
