LHS girls finish 2nd in region

Lady Commodores’ season ends at Pontotoc

PONTOTOC— All the Lafayette High girls basketball team wanted was a chance. All it wanted was the opportunity to knock off Ponototoc — and the Commodores got one— but Lafayette was unable to hit shots late, and the Commodores fell 44-33 in a second-round matchup  of the MHSAA Class 4A playoffs Monday night in the Pontotoc High School gym. (March 3, 2015, Page 6)

Lady ‘Dores to play for 2-4A championship

It had been nine days since the Lafayette High girls basketball team had played a game. The rust showed at times, but a late surge by Shaniyah Buford helped the Commodores defeat New Albany 42-39 in the Division 2-4A tournament semifinals Thursday night at the LHS gym. Lady Chargers win 2 in tourney

Oxford’s girls basketball team had a little easier go of it in its final game of the “O” Town Showdown. After holding off Madison-Ridgeland Academy for a 39-34 win Friday, the Chargers took control early against Marshall Academy and cruised to a 61-33 victory Saturday night at the Oxford High gym. Lady Chargers fall to Olive Branch in Invitational final

For the first time this season, the Oxford High girls basketball team suffered a loss. Olive Branch defeated them 61-34 in the championship game of the Lady Charger Invitational on Monday night in the Oxford High gym. The Lafayette Girls team defeated Houston 53-26 earlier in the day in the finals of the consolation bracket. (November 25, 2014, Page 7)

Lady Commodores fall to Grenada, 42-39

The season has not gotten off to a good start for the Lafayette High girls basketball team. After losing to Shannon earlier this month to begin the season, the Lady Commodores dropped their home opener to Grenada by a score of 42-39 inside the LHS gym Tuesday night. (November 19, 2014, Page 1B)
