OHS seniors go out with a bang

The Oxford soccer programs punctuated their seasons on Tuesday with convincing wins over divisional foe West Point.

OHS girls go 1-2 in Brooke Welch Tourney

Oxford’s girls soccer team earned its first win of the season over the weekend with a 2-1 triumph over Gautier. Oxford (1-5 overall) lost 2-0 to Warren Central and 2-1 to Northwest Rankin in the other two games. Oxford teams shine in Division 2-5A meet

Led by outstanding individual efforts from Sam Kendricks, Justin Fondren and Kristen Dickerson, the Oxford boys and girls track teams easily won the Division 2-5A meet at Oxford’s Bobby Holcomb Field on Saturday.

The Chargers totaled 150 points, 112 more than second-place finisher West Point. New Hope was third in the boys meet with 31 points, while Saltillo finished fourth with 23. The Lady Chargers finished with 133 points, more than double second-place finisher New Hope with 66. Saltillo was third with 24, while West Point was fourth with 16. (April 25, 2011, Page 1B)

OHS girls advance to North Half title match

OHS SOCCER — The Oxford Lady Chargers soccer team advanced in the Class 5A playoffs Monday with a historic 3-1 win over Saltillo. Tonight will be the first time the Lady Chargers have hosted a North Half title match and the opponent, Ridgeland, is a familiar foe that defeated OHS in the 2006 North Half title match. The Chargers unfortunately weren’t as lucky as the Lady Chargers as they fell 2-0 to Callaway in the second round of the 5A playoffs Monday. (February 2, 2010, Page 8)
