New plant expands quickly
Winchester Ammunition has wasted no time in expanding its operations in Oxford with the new Centerfire plant. Gov. Haley Barbour will be in town Wednesday for a private ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new facility. Oxford gets 1,000 jobs
The community hit an economic bull’s-eye Wednesday afternoon when Olin Corp. announced it was moving 1,000 ammunition manufacturing jobs from East Alton, Ill., to Oxford and planning to build a new 500,000-square-foot facility here. 1,000 jobs headed to Oxford?
Employment at Oxford’s Winchester ammunition-making plant may grow by 1,000 jobs over the next thee to five years if the Olin Corp., an East Alton, Ill.-based company, decides to move its Centerfire ammunition manufacturing operation here.
