DE Johnson out for remainder of spring

Ole Miss junior defensive end C.J. Johnson will miss the remainder of spring practice after fracturing his fibula during Wednesday’s practice at the Indoor Practice Facility.

Ole Miss head coach Hugh Freeze said he didn’t see the injury happen but assumed someone rolled up on Johnson.

Spring has sprung: Gridiron Rebels begin practice

Had it been anyone else who was late to practice, he may have had to run laps or stadiums as punishment. Head coach Hugh Freeze, however, had a pretty good excuse for missing the majority of Ole Miss’ first spring football practice Sunday as he was cheering on Andy Kennedy’s squad in Nashville, Tenn. (March 18, 2013, Page 3B)

DE Thompson hungry for extra reps

Carlos Thompson has the green light to do what most middle-aged American men can only dream of: Eat whatever he wants without consequence.
This past season the former four-star defensive end from Hollandale-Simmons High redshirted in large part because he was deemed as completely underweight for his 6-foot-4 frame. (December 19, 2012, Page 8)

Rebel offense having to cope without RBs

For at least a couple of days, Ole Miss’ quarterback battle has taken a back seat thanks to the Rebels getting a little roughed up by Brigham Young.

Against the Cougars, Ole Miss’ depth at running back took a significant hit when All-Southeastern Conference senior Brandon Bolden and fellow veteran Enrique Davis went down with leg injuries.

During his weekly press conference Monday, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt addressed both injuries. (September 6, 2011, Page 6)

Dorsey looking for redemption in 2011

A lot was made of Wayne Dorsey’s arrival in Oxford prior to the 2010 spring semester.

After graduating early from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Dorsey enrolled early in Ole Miss to get a jump start on adapting to life in the Southeastern Conference. (more…) (August 23, 2011, Page 2B)

Rebels add 22 on National Signing Day

OLE MISS FOOTBALL — A strong final push turned into an outstanding National Signing Day for the Ole Miss football program and Houston Nutt Wednesday. Ole Miss was able to sign some important players for the 2010 class and, in the process, vault up the national recruiting rankings. The Rebels signed 22 new players in addition to two junior college players the team signed in December. (February 6, 2010, Page 6)
