Chargers end season with sweep of Senatobia

Oxford’s seventh-grade football team capped another successful season Tuesday with a 26-6 win against Senatobia at Oxford High’s Bobby Holcomb Field. The victory came a week after a heartbreaking double overtime loss to Grenada, which went on to defeat Lafayette Tuesday and capture the seventh-grade Tri-Lakes Conference title. The eighth-graders also ended the year on a high note with a 40-6 win against Senatobia in the nightcap. (October 24, 2012, Page 6)

8th-grade Chargers return to form

A week of intense practices following the only loss of the season paid off in a big way for the Oxford eighth-grade football team on Tuesday. A week after suffering a disappointing 14-12 loss to Lafayette, the Chargers blanked Grenada 36-0. The victory improved the Chargers to 6-1 overall and kept them in the race to possibly win the Tri-Lakes Conference title. (October 17, 2012, Page 6)

Chargers blank South Panola in conference opener

Led by another great defensive effort, the Oxford seventh-grade Chargers defeated South Panola 12-0 in Batesville Tuesday night. Oxford’s eighth graders also posted a 34-0 win over Batesville to improve to 5-0 on the year.  (more…) (September 26, 2012, Page 7)

OMS defeats ‘Dores in home outing

Oxford’s middle school football doubleheader against Lafayette on Tuesday night at Bobby Holcomb Field started with a great defensive performance and ended with a balanced showing on offense.

The seventh-grade Chargers defeated the Commodores 26-0, while the older Chargers outlasted the Lafayette 28-22 to remain perfect on the season. (September 12, 2012, Page 6)
