Having just rushed the field in Mooreville with his players, the breath of the Water Valley defensive coordinator represented one part relief and another part exhaustion. (more…) (October 3, 2011, Page 4B)

Two seasons ago Camp was a team manager for the Blue Devils. This year though, he has emerged as a playmaker and it showed Friday night in his 84-yard game-winning touchdown catch to knock off Bruce 20-19 at Trojan Field. (more…) (September 12, 2011, Page 5B)

This week’s Player of the Week from the high school ranks is used to seeing his name in print. Lafayette senior running back Demarkous Dennis is a reliable, every-down player for the No. 1 ranked Commodores and a reason why they have scored 40 or more points in all three of their games so far this year.
In a year where D.K. Buford has emerged to give the Commodores yet another weapon on offense, Dennis has been the most consistent member of the unit. In Week 1 he rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown, while in Week 2 he totaled 165 yards and three touchdowns. (more…) (September 6, 2011, Page 6)
BLOG: WATER VALLEY — For the second year in a row the Water Valley-Calhoun City showdown proved to be a memorable game.

WATER VALLEY — Led by quarterback E.J. Bounds’ big offensive night and another outstanding performance from the defense, the Water Valley Blue Devils stormed past the Coffeeville Pirates 63-0 in their home opener at Bobby Clark Field Friday night. (August 29, 2011, Page 3B)
It’s not often that a sophomore has the ability to make big plays, especially on a team that features two senior standouts on offense. But Lafayette running back/wide receiver D.K. Buford isn’t your typical sophomore and he’s not your typical athlete with just average speed.
What separates Buford from the rest of the pack is his ability to streak past defenders on any given play each Friday night. His raw speed, coupled with his great running instincts, showed up in a big way for LHS in its 40-11 win over Tupelo in the opener. Buford scored the first touchdown of the season for the Commodores, one that set up six straight scores, and finished with two touchdowns overall as well as 73 yards rushing and 37 receiving. His outstanding effort didn’t go unnoticed as he earned the first Player of the Week honor in 2011. (August 23, 2011, Page 8)
INDEPENDENCE — It didn’t take Water Valley long to find its groove against the Independence Wildcats on Friday.
Almost from the opening kickoff, the visiting Blue Devils defense had Independence on the run. (August 22, 2011, Page 3B)
