Rebels struggle with production in practice
Hugh Freeze seemed to feel more like a dentist than he did Ole Miss’ first-year head football coach Tuesday morning. Shortly after his Rebels went through their first practice outside this week and first since a second two-a-day practice session on Monday, Freeze made the comment that Tuesday’s drills felt more like pulling teeth than anything else. LSU coach Les Miles may have decided Saturday’s game with Ole Miss at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium was over with five minutes left in the contest when he instructed quarterback Zach Mettenberger to kneel the ball four straight times instead of score another touchdown from the Ole Miss 1-yard line. Rebs’ Rose remains perfect
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Alabama coach Nick Saban has to be wishing late season trades were available in the college game like they are in the NFL.
If they were, it’s hard not to think he wouldn’t come after Ole Miss junior Bryson Rose, who is the hottest kicker in the college game.

Mistakes hurt Rebels in loss to Wildcats
LEXINGTON, Ky. — Ole Miss’ 2011 football season went from bad to worse Saturday afternoon thanks to another second-half letdown that led to a 30-13 win for the Kentucky Wildcats at Commonwealth Stadium.
In a game where the Rebels (2-7 overall, 0-6 in the Southeastern Conference) finally scored in the third quarter, and actually had a lead heading into the fourth, mistakes made in the final quarter proved costly. Ole Miss was outscored 20-0 in the fourth and after totaling 314 yards of offense in the first three quarters, the Rebels were held to just 78 yards the rest of the way. Running game finally gets going at Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. — Ole Miss’ running game, and the results the coaches have not only wanted but expected to see most of the season, came alive in the first half of Saturday’s game against Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Led by a healthy Brandon Bolden and Jeff Scott, the Rebels totaled 172 yards and two touchdowns on the ground in the first half, a season-high for a half in the rushing department. Ole Miss’ ability to move the ball on the ground helped slow Auburn’s offense, which had gotten off to a 14-0 start, and ultimately propelled the Rebels to a 17-17 tie at the half. Despite big game, dropped pass by Moncrief stands out
Donte Moncrief had his best game as an Ole Miss Rebel on Saturday, hauling in a career-best five catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns.
