Bishop’s gem give LHS series lead on Knights

In a game where scoring was hard to come by, Mack Bishop never let West Lauderdale come close. Lafayette’s junior southpaw hurled a two-hitter, and the Commodores came up with just enough offense to claim a 2-0 victory over the Knights at W.V. Brewer Field on Wednesday to take a 1-0 lead in the teams’ MHSAA Class 4A second-round playoff series. Lafayette (21-5) will try to eliminate the defending state champion in Game 2 tonight at 7 at West Lauderdale. A third and decisive game would be played Friday at Lafayette if needed. (April 30, 2015, Page 6)
