Complete effort leads LHS past Oxford

Lafayette bounced back in a big way Thursday evening at Oxford.

After dropping their last two division games, the Lady Commodores pieced together a near perfect effort to up-end crosstown rival Oxford 9-1 on the road.

Lewisburg grabs early lead, late runs in win

Lewisburg’s fast start to Tuesday’s Division 2-4A contest with Lafayette ended up becoming an even bigger factor late. Just as Lafayette’s offense seemed to pick up, three errors in the fifth inning allowed the Lady Patriots to garner three more runs and take an even bigger lead on LHS.

The end result was an 8-3 victory for Lewisburg, which was able to get back into the division race with its first win. (March 27, 2013, Page 8)

Lady Commodores run over New Albany

It took the Lady Commodores a little while to get warmed up Tuesday night. Once Lafayette’s bats got going, however, there was no turning back as the Lady ‘Dores run-ruled New Albany 14-4 to open their division schedule.

Whitten whitewashes Lady Chargers

Friday night’s Crosstown Classic softball game with Oxford came down to the pitching of Lafayette’s Brooke Whitten. While the Lady Commodores got a couple of key insurance runs late in the 6-0 win, Whitten really didn’t need much help based on the effort she gave in the pitching circle. Lady ‘Dores pound Horn Lake

A 17-hit attack on offense higlighted the Lafayette Lady Commodores’ 8-3 win over Class 6A Horn Lake Thursday night. Six players had at least two hits in the win, while three players — Kendall Glass, Emily Robinson and Moesha Phillips — each had three hits in the win. OMS, LMS work out kinks in Classic

A split in middle school softball action between Lafayette and Oxford at the Charger Classic Friday evening was secondary to the valuable playing time and experience earned on the field for the two teams.
