Pitching roles up for grabs out of bullpen

Ole Miss’ weekend rotation and closer spot heading into the season are set.
The role of nearly every other pitcher on the staff, however, is far from it.
Starting at the back end of the bullpen, Ole Miss will look to junior right-hander Brett Huber to reclaim his freshman form as the team’s closer. (February 8, 2012, Page 6)

Chavez shows improvement for Rebs in Sunday scrimmage

The Ole Miss baseball team’s march to opening day continued on Sunday with its fourth preseason intrasquad scrimmage.
One standout on the day was Dylan Chavez.

After struggling during the fall, the left-handed junior bounced back for the Rebels, allowing just two hits while striking out three in 4.2 shutout innings of work. (February 6, 2012, Page 4B)

Rebels miss chances, fall to AU in opener

AUBURN, Ala. — It wasn’t the Ole Miss Diamond Rebels that made the bulk of the errors on Thursday night. Unfortunately for the visiting Rebels, they didn’t take advantage of Auburn’s three miscues and eventually sputtered their way to a 6-3 loss at the hands of the Tigers at Plainsman Park. (April 22, 2011, Page 6A)

Rebels head to Auburn, looking to stay in hunt

As of right now the Diamond Rebels are in a neck-and-neck race with a slew of other Southeastern Conference foes for the right to play in the conference’s eight-team tournament in Hoover, Ala. at the end of the year.

That tournament also means admission into the NCAA Tournament, which is why this weekend’s series at Auburn should take on added meaning.
That may not be the case, however, according to Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco. (more…) (April 21, 2011, Page 6)
