OMS boys, LMS girls earn wins against cross-town rivals

The Crosstown Classic hit the hardwood for the first time this season when Oxford Middle School traveled down Highway 6 to play Lafayette Middle School inside the LHS gym Monday night.  It was all Chargers on the boys’ side of things as Oxford swept the seventh- and eighth-grade games.  In the seventh-grade game, the Chargers (6-0) won decisively over the Commodores, 27-5. The game was never in doubt as Oxford had full command due to a strong defensive effort. The Lafayette Middle School girls swept Oxford in both games. (November 18, 2014, Page 7)

Water Valley ties, wins against LMS

After rain washed out Tuesday’s scheduled meeting between the Lafayette and Water Valley middle school football teams, they were able to play Thursday at William L. Buford Stadium.  The seventh-grade game resulted in a 12-12 tie, and how the teams got there included some excitement. Water Valley won the eighth grade matchup 8-6. (September 5, 2014, Page 6)
