Rebel offense having to cope without RBs

For at least a couple of days, Ole Miss’ quarterback battle has taken a back seat thanks to the Rebels getting a little roughed up by Brigham Young.

Against the Cougars, Ole Miss’ depth at running back took a significant hit when All-Southeastern Conference senior Brandon Bolden and fellow veteran Enrique Davis went down with leg injuries.

During his weekly press conference Monday, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt addressed both injuries. (September 6, 2011, Page 6)

Fumble, late score doom Rebs in opener

The line between winning and losing in college football is extremely fine. For the Ole Miss Rebels, a team that was looking to get off to a good start following a disappointing 4-8 season in 2010, Saturday’s season opening 14-13 loss to BYU at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium boiled down to just a few plays that prevented them from earning a much-needed victory.

Mistakes cost the Rebels in last year’s season-opening loss to Jacksonville State and it was miscues at the most critical points of the game that hurt them again this year. (more…) (September 5, 2011, Page 1B)

Status of RBs Bolden, Davis still up in the air

Saturday’s loss could have lingering affects for the Ole Miss Rebels.

As if losing its season opener to BYU wasn’t bad enough, Ole Miss might be without its top two running backs for an extended period of time.

During his weekly teleconference on Sunday, Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt updated the status of seniors Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis, both of whom saw limited playing time after being injured against the Cougars. (September 5, 2011, Page 1B)

Stoudt should start for Rebels vs. SIU

COLUMN: If Zack Stoudt’s play on Saturday didn’t make it obvious he should be Ole Miss’ next starter at quarterback, then his post-game Q-and-A with reporters sure did.

The junior college transfer didn’t dodge questions regarding the fumble. (more…) (September 5, 2011, Page 2B)

BLOG: It’s looking like the Rebels will likely be without senior running backs Brandon Bolden and Enrique Davis next weekend when they host Southern Illinois.

Rebels have talent, depth at RB

It’s probably fair to say Ole Miss fans are hoping for a different 2011 on the gridiron.

One area that will need to remain the same if the Rebels are going to improve on their 4-8 season from a year ago, is their rushing attack.

Ole Miss ranked third in the Southeastern Conference in rushing offense, averaging 207.6 yards per game, and returns its top three running backs in All-SEC candidate Brandon Bolden, fellow senior Enrique Davis and sophomore Jeff Scott. (more…) (August 17, 2011, Page 6)
