Annexation hearing ends; no ruling yet

Attorneys on both sides of an annexation dispute have 30 days to submit final arguments in writing to Chancery Judge Ed Roberts, who will decide whether the land that Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi has selected as the location of its new $300 million replacement hospital will be included in the city limits. (December 19, 2012, Page 2)

Local land owners are asking a Chancery Court judge to allow their 160 acres of property to be annex into the city of Oxford have some wondering if this site is on a short list of possibilities for the location of a new proposed $250 million regional medical facility from Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. Hotel builder seeks incentives

The city is considering a request from local hotelier Chan Patel for some tax breaks and incentives to build an 80-bed hotel next to the Oxford Conference Center. The request is for three items: a tax abatement, sidewalks and landscaping funded by the city, and waiver of one-time city fees, such as electrical connections. (February 4, 2010, Page 1)
