Blue Devils tangle with much-improved Cougars

Water Valley still has a lot to play for entering the final regular season game of the year Friday night at home against Mantachie. AHS Bulldogs rally to claim Region 2-3A
ABERDEEN — Water Valley’s goal of winning a second straight Region 2-3A title came up short Friday night with a 20-13 loss to the Aberdeen Bulldogs. Area squads set to face region rivals
With the end of the regular season rapidly approaching, all three area football teams are jostling for region and post-season positioning tonight.
Water Valley probably headlines the area’s action with a road test at Aberdeen, while Oxford (8-0 overall, 4-0 Region 1-5A) hosts 1-5A foe Saltillo and Lafayette welcomes 2-4A rival Senatobia to William L. Buford Stadium.
All three games are set for 7 p.m. kickoffs. Oxford’s game can be heard on 95.5 FM, while Water Valley’s will be broadcast on 105.5 FM and Lafayette’s on 93.7 FM. (October 19, 2012, Page 6A)
WV-Aberdeen game to decide Region 2-3A title
WATER VALLEY — The Water Valley footbal coaching staff doesn’t have to say much to its players about its upcoming game against Aberdeen.

Blue Devils travel to face Nettleton in 2-3A
The Water Valley Blue Devils will take a three-game winning streak with them Friday when they travel east to face Nettleton in a Region 2-3A showdown.
The Tigers enter Friday’s matchup in the midst of a major rebuild.
