Region 1-5A play begins tonight for the Oxford Chargers at home against Center Hill. The No. 1 Lafayette Commodores are back at home against Pontotoc after two weeks on the road. Water Valley will look to bounce back after a one-sided loss to Charleston on the road at J.Z. George.
Those are three subplots for the area high school teams heading into tonight’s matchups. Kickoffs for all contests are set for 7:30. Lafayette can be heard on 93.7 FM. Oxford can be heard on both 95.5 and 102.1 FM, while Water Valley appears on 105.5 FM. (September 23, 2011, Page 6A)
WATER VALLEY — A battered and bruised group of Water Valley Blue Devils will be looking to put last Friday’s one-sided loss to Charleston behind them this Friday night with a road trip to J.Z. George.
Water Valley is coming off a tough three-game stretch that included Calhoun City, Bruce and most recently Charleston. The Tigers’ 39-3 win was a very uncharacteristic score to see involving the Blue Devils and coach Brad Embry was looking to see his team bounce back after that loss. (September 22, 2011, Page 6)

BLOG: Water Valley — The Blue Devils didn’t have an answer for Charleston’s speedy duo of quarterback Antwan Wilson and running back Percy O’Bannon tonight at Bobby Clark Field.

WATER VALLEY — After throttling their opponents to the tune of 105-0 in their first two games of the season, the Water Valley Blue Devils were humbled Friday, losing to Calhoun City 16-14 at Bobby Clark field.

The second week of the high school football season continues tonight. Water Valley is the only team at home — the Blue Devils host Coffeeville — while Lafayette and Oxford are both on the road at Greenwood and Charleston, respectively.
Kickoff for all three games is set for 7:30 p.m. LHS can be heard on 93.7 FM and www.q93.7fm.com, WVHS is on 105.5 FM, while OHS is on 95.5 and 102.1 FM.
