Bo Wallace

Wallace looking forward to matchup with Wilson

Bo Wallace doesn’t need to be matched up against another highly regarded quarterback for him to play better or want to score more points than he usually does. The Ole Miss sophomore, who led East Mississippi Community College to an NJCAA national title slinging the ball all over the place last year, knows that just because his team’s defense faces a huge challenge from Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson Saturday, he can’t suddenly put any more pressure on himself to pace the offense. (October 26, 2012, Page 6A)

Refreshed Rebels ready to hit road Saturday

Rested and re-focused after the lone break of the season, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze’s focus is to finish the last five weeks as strong as he can.

The Rebels first opportunity to earn a fifth win comes Saturday in Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium. Arkansas (3-4 overall, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) also had an week off like Ole Miss (4-3, 1-2) this past Saturday. (October 23, 2012, Page 6)

Brassell reflects on past, talks about his future

SCOOBA — Mature was a word that continued to come out of the mouth of Nick Brassell following his team’s victory against the No. 5 Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Thursday night. Brassell, who was a standout wide receiver/defensive back at Ole Miss in his first season out of South Panola, helped lead the No. 3 EMCC Lions past the Rangers on both sides of the ball. (October 19, 2012, Page 6A)

Rebels do more than hold on this time around

A week after suffering through an emotionally draining loss, Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze and his Rebels were able to experience an entirely different emotion following a 41-20 win over Auburn at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Saturday afternoon. Freeze, who was second guessed in the Rebels’ 30-27 setback to Texas A&M, showed signs of a water and Gatorade celebration performed in the locker room just minutes before talking about the Rebels’ first Southeastern Conference win in 17 tries. (October 15, 2012, Page 1B)

Rebs hold on to earn rare SEC win

BLOG: It’s been a while since Ole Miss won its last Southeastern Conference football game. Sixteen games to be exact after the Rebels squandered a fourth-quarter lead last weekend against SEC newcomer Texas A&M.

Ole Miss (3-3 overall, 0-2 SEC) will be back at it today, looking for that elusive conference victory, with a homecoming matchup against the reeling Auburn Tigers (1-4, 0-3) at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The game is set for 11:21 a.m. and will be televised on the SEC Network.

Freeze discusses Texas A&M, Auburn, more

Manziel, Texas A&M rallies past Rebels

Ole Miss’ game with Texas A&M on Saturday night at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium came down to one play, which play was more important, however, is up for debate.

An interception by Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace with just over a minute remaining. A safety on Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel that ultimately wasn’t ruled in the Rebels’ favor. A holding call that thwarted a scoring drive. A fourth-and-inch run that was snubbed out by the Aggies defense. (more…) (October 8, 2012, Page 1B)

Players, staff hurting after loss to A&M

COLUMN: Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace used the word “crushed” describe the way his teammates felt in the dressing room after Saturday night’s 30-27 loss to Texas A&M.
Hugh Freeze, the leader of the Rebels, said he was “very disappointed” with the come-from-behind win for the Aggies and that the “kids and coaches were hurting” from the outcome. (more…) (October 8, 2012, Page 1B)

Penalties come back to hurt Rebels in setback

When a college football game is decided by three points and in the final minutes like Ole Miss’ game with Texas A&M was Saturday night, coaches, fans, players and media will often go to the stats to figure out where the game was won or lost.

In the case of the Rebels, a season-high 10 penalties that garnered 71 yards hurt their chances of earning the victory as much as any stat, including two interceptions thrown by Bo Wallace. (more…) (October 8, 2012, Page 2B)
