Wright pitches OM to series win over UT

Ole Miss’ Austin Wright turned in a solid performance on the mound Sunday and the offense kicked into gear as Rebels shut out Tennessee 8-0 to claim the three-game series. Rebs fall behind, lose series to Alabama

Despite what Ole Miss coach Mike Bianco considered an improved day at the plate on Sunday, the Rebels were unable to claim their first Southeastern Conference series of the season, falling to Alabama 6-4.

Tracy, Rebels shut out JSU Tigers

Ole Miss’ dominance on the mound continued Tuesday at Oxford-University Stadium.

Led by senior pitcher Matt Tracy, the Rebels topped Jackson State 8-0 and in doing so, have allowed just one run over their last 36 innings. (March 16, 2011, Page 6)

Kirksey leads Rebels past Austin Peay

The story line for most of the early baseball season has been Ole Miss’ ability to find ways to win and Tuesday was no different as a Zach Kirksey sacrifice fly in the 10th inning lifted the No. 28 Rebels to a 5-4 victory over Austin Peay at Oxford-University Stadium.

Ole Miss trailed for the bulk of the game and after a two-run fourth put the Governors ahead 3-1, Ole Miss remained behind until an RBI-single from freshman Austin Anderson in the eighth inning tied the game 4-4 and eventually sent it into extra innings. (more…) (March 2, 2011, Page 6)

Rebels show resilience in sweep of Wright State

The Ole Miss Diamond Rebels had their fair share of hiccups this weekend.

What stood out and left a lasting impression, however, was the Rebels’ ability to recover quickly en route to a three-game sweep of Wright State at Oxford-University Stadium.

On Sunday, the Rebels were able to withstand a late-inning rally for the second straight game to claim a 6-5 victory. (February 21, 2011, Page 6)
