Oxford Music Fest 2012 spotlight continues

OXFORD TOWN – The photo shown here caught one of Oxford’s favorite musicians, Tate Moore, jamming at a 2011 Thacker Mountain Radio Broadcast  and we’re glad we have it in our archives because Moore takes the spotlight on Page 9 in this week’s issue of Oxford Town as we  conclude our sneak peek at the Oxford Music Festival set to reload Feb. 9. This week’s spotlight includes bands and acts for Feb. 11 and 12 at Proud Larry’s, the Lyric Theater and Malco Studio Cinema. Oxford Music Festival reloads

OXFORD TOWN – Oxford Music Festival organizers Daniel Morrow, Tim Burkhead (pictured here), Nathan Robbins and Caroline Hourin recently released the lineup for the 2012 version of one of Oxford’s favorite hometown festivals, Oxford Music Fest. Set to reload Feb. 9 at the Lyric Theater, Proud Larry’s and the Malco Studio Cinema, OMF is teaming up with the Oxford Film Festival to bring us another amazing weekend of music, movies and mayhem featuring tons of local talent. Oxford Town’s coverage begins on Page 7 in this week’s issue and continues until the last note is played on Sunday, Feb. 12, at the Malco Studio Cinema. (January 5, 2012, Page 7, 9)

VOX PRESS returns to the Powerhouse

OXFORD TOWN – VOX PRESS presents “Noises from the Nerve Center Collective,” an evening of experimental music and literature, on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center on University Avenue in Oxford. The event is part of a documetary project and is free and open to the public. Get Revived! The Oxford Rhythm Revival returns this weekend

OXFORD TOWN – Gear up for one of the coolest “revivals” in the region as the 2011 version of the Oxford Rhythm Revival cranks up around the Oxford Square this Saturday (June 18). Mississippi native Lynn Drury, Memphis legend rocker Keith Sykes, Shannon McNally, fiddle prodigy Ruby Jane (pictured), Gina Sexton, Marlena Jarjoura and Taylor Hildebrand are just of few of the names that will keep Oxford jumping this Saturday night. The fun begins on Saturday morning on the Courthouse lawn and continues until the last note is played at Proud Larry’s, Rooster’s Blues House and Soulshine Pizza at midnight. Oxford Blues Festival kicks off Friday

OXFORD TOWN – The public is invited to venture out onto the Square and enjoy the Mississippi blues with your family and friends July 16-18 at Oxford’s first Blues Festival. Page 8 of this week’s Oxford Town has a schedule, photos and other details about the festival that will be held at several great venues around town, concluding on Sunday at Foxfire Ranch in Marshall County. (July 15, 2010, Page 8)

CadillacFunk mixes it up

OXFORD TOWN – Local band CadillacFunk has been lighting up stages all over town recently, offering a mixture of genres and personalities within the band. With a base of seven members, CadillacFunk has guest musicians sit in at any given time and/or venue giving audiences a different look and sound at each gig.
