L.Q.C Lamar statue firmly in place

A new statue of L.Q.C. Lamar has finally been erected at the front of his former home in oxford, which was recently restored and includes a museum about his life. Standing in his famed orator pose, the life-size statue was created by Taylor artist Bill Beckwith. (August 3, 2010, Page 1)

Figurative Sculpture: Mississippi Roots

The new exhibition “Figurative Sculpture: Mississippi Roots” includes work by well-known sculptors including Bill Beckwith of Taylor, who has done bronzes of B.B. King and William Faulkner; Bill Brady, deceased, of Columbia who did work of William Faulkner; Leon Koury of Greenville; Ben Watts of Columbia; Eric Johnsen from the Gulf Coast; and Floyd Shaman of Cleveland. The museum is located at 1608 Highway 82 West in Greenwood. The exhibit runs through April 18. (March 23, 2010)
