Mortgage consortium aimed to help keep homes

For those going through, or attempting to avoid foreclosure on your home, the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office is holding a mortgage consortium from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Oxford Conference Center that will provide legal help and information. (April 8, 2013, Page 3)

Rural Legal Services to stay in Oxford

After much contentious discussion and planning by the directors of the North Mississippi Rural Legal Services, legal help for low-income families will remain in Oxford; however, many services will be cut. (October 11, 2011, Page 1)

Poor need more access to legal services

More attorneys need to offer their time to provide pro bono — or free — services to the poor.

That’s just one of several recommendations outlines in the recently released report from the Access to Justice Commission which summarizes findings of five public hearings held around Mississippi.
