Timely plays, hit help Oxford nip Center Hill

Oxford got one of its stiffest tests of the season Tuesday night. The Chargers did just enough to pass. Oxford’s offense broke through late after squandering some early chances to back another clean outing from Jason Barber, and the Chargers escaped in their MHSAA Class 5A playoff opener with a 2-0 win over Center Hill at Edwin Moak Field. (April 29, 2015, Page 1B)

Chargers move to 20-0 with rout of West Point

At this point, Oxford baseball coach Chris Baughman is trying make sure his team isn’t getting bored. Oxford cruised to another win Tuesday at Edwin Moak Field, routing West Point 10-0 in five innings to improve to 5-0 in Division 2-5A play and clinch a playoff berth. Chargers sweep twinbill, remain undefeated

Barber hurls another no-hitter in OHS’s lastest win

Jason Barber wasn’t perfect, but he was close enough. Oxford’s junior right-hander overwhelmed Saltillo’s lineup from the start, hurling a no-hitter and helping the Chargers (15-0, 3-0 Division 2-5A) keep their perfect record intact with a 10-0 victory in five innings at Edwin Moak Field on Monday. (March 31, 2015, Page 6)

Oxford tops ‘Dores with walk-off

Baseball’s version of the Crosstown Classic took center stage Thursday night as Oxford hosted crosstown rival Lafayette at Edwin Moak Field where the Chargers came away the victor in a 2-1 win.  Oxford (10-0) got a timely hit from pitcher Houston Roth in the bottom of the seventh inning scoring first baseman Jack McClure and giving the Chargers the walk-off win over the Commodores (5-4). (March 20, 2015, Page 2B)

Chargers begin playoffs against Ridgeland

After falling short in the state title game, the Oxford Chargers have been itching to make a return trip this season. Chargers aim for region title against Mustangs

The goal is clear for the Oxford Chargers this week. If they defeat the Center Hill Mustangs (5-5, 2-3 Region 1-5A) at Bobby Holcomb Field on Friday night, the Chargers (8-1, 5-0) will claim their second consecutive Region 1-5A title and wrap up the No. 1 playoff seed with one more regular season game remaining. (October 30, 2014, Page 6A)

Chargers clinch playoff spot; now playing for top seed.

CLARKSDALE — The execution was spotty throughout, but Oxford did enough Friday night to ensure itself of playing beyond the regular season. The Chargers got a pair of early touchdowns against Clarksdale and were never seriously threatened by the Wildcats, clinching a spot in next month’s MHSAA Class 5A playoffs with a 17-0 victory at Crumpton Field. (October 26, 2014, Page 5B)
